311 - Live at UNO Lakefront Arena at 3-11 Day 2004 (3/11/04), uncut audio. tagged and with album art (FLAC)

So, there's a DVD release of 311's "3-11 Day" show from 2004, and it's a REALLY well produced DVD. The main problem is, a lot of SA's turntable work is muted, and 4 songs were cut. Other things cut were slipups, and some stage banter and talking. For example, when P-Nut brings out an upright bass for "Seems Uncertain", Nick replies "what's that". That's really small and not really worth mentioning to be honest lol, but I personally prefer uncut live albums with EVERYTHING intact. I had no clue about this prior to seeing someone upload this uncut version to YouTube with a link to the raw archive.org files. This upload is those files but with tags and album artwork. I've included 2 album covers, both made using a scan of the DVD ran through Vector Magic and scaled to fit a standard album cover size.

 I DID NOT RECORD THIS AUDIO! I am not sure who did, but "Tony Moresi" uploaded it to archive.org, so special thanks to them!

Janky-ass recording setup but still sounds pretty ok considering the way it was done. 
Most of the clearer crowd noises in the right channel were the people next to me.

Peeping Tom Demo Tape (Fixed Tracklist) (MP3 128kbps)

 

Every version of this demo tape that I could find online had the tracks mislabeled almost entirely, this upload fixes that. I also saw mentions of a 7th track called "The Peeping Tom" which I was only able to find on a Spanish blogspot post, but I doubt this track is from the tape, as it sounds vastly different to the rest of the tape, both in terms of sound quality and the song itself.

I sadly could not find any of these tracks in higher quality than 128kbps :(

Frankie Jones: An Unknown Rapper (Rightfully Spoken FLAC/MP3 Download)

    So back in early 2020 (like, RIGHT when shit hit the fan), I was doing some research on Scatman John to see if any new live performances/ads/whatever has been discovered, and I came across a page that John's wife made which discussed songs about stuttering. One of them of course being the song "Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)", but another song mentioned being "Man in the Mirror" by Frankie Jones. This page included low quality (by today's standards, anyways) versions of these songs. 

    Upon hearing "Man in the Mirror", I became very intrigued. The lyrics were very well written, and the beat was very catchy even if a bit odd sounding. The songs beat sounds to have been made using some form of MIDI? I cant tell, but I honestly love how it sounds. The website mentioned an album that Frankie released with this song on it, "Rightfully Spoken", which had absolutely 0 uploads anywhere online. Just "Man in the Mirror", only because of the low quality version uploaded to the website, but the rest of the album was completely lost. I wound up finding a very cheap copy of the album on eBay and bought it instantly and gave it a listen a few days after it was delivered.

    Upon first hearing it, my first thought was that this album is pretty lo-fi in its production, and pretty unique in its own way. The lyrics are VERY much from the heart throughout, I was impressed by that honestly. It isn't the greatest album ever made or anything, but I very much respect it. In terms of the beats, in a lot of the songs, they drag on a bit, but it isn't a bad listening experience or anything in my opinion. Very interesting listen overall.

Brother Ali - Rites of Passage (CDQ Cassette Mix, Cassette Rip, CD Rip WAV/CUE/LOG) (WAV)

2004 CD remaster which did not come with any art

CDQ Cassette Mix:
This version of Rites of Passage is a custom made version I put together that reverts the slight mixing change on the CD remaster and makes them identical to the original Cassette version. This change is "So Dearly" fading into the track after it, "Voices In My Head". This was done by finding where the outro loops and repeating it, and fading it out accordingly using Audacity's "Adjustable Fade" feature and comparing it with the original Cassette rip. This also fixes the outro from "So Dearly" being listed as a separate track. The intro to "Voices In My Head" was fixed by taking the intro from the Cassette rip, removing the noise, and splicing it back in.

Cassette Rip (24bit 192khz):

This is a rip of the original 2000 released Cassette done using a Technics M65 tape deck and a Schiit JIL Analog-->Digital converter. It sounds VERY good for a tape (especially one that's 21 years old) due to it being on chrome tape thankfully. Though, the CD remaster does sound better. More so uploaded due to it being a crucial part of the artist's discography in my opinion.

CD Rip:

This is a rip of the 2004 released CD remaster done using Exact Audio Copy. This CD has a few changes (some I mentioned above) but will reiterate.

• So Dearly fades out into Voices In My Head
• So Dearly's outro is split off into another track, "Music In My Head", but is not different musically in any way
• 2 bonus tracks are added at the end, "The Phoenix (feat. Musab)", and "Eighty-8 (feat. BK-One)"

No other changes are present in this remaster thankfully, Rhymesayers did an AMAZING job on it, I'm very surprised that they didn't like how it came out. Id go as far to say this deserves a Vinyl release at the very least.

NEITHER OF THESE ARE FROM MY RIPS! TORSO CD sourced form rutracker, 1974 Vinyl sourced from soulseek. Special thanks to those who originally ripped these. Trust me, I wouldve loved to source from the 1974 vinyl, but theyre extremely rare.

EDITS:

1. "Smelly Tongues": This tracks intro (first 8 or so seconds) was a fold down of the stereo mix on the TORSO CD, this was fixed here by taking the rip of the original press vinyl, removing the noise using iZotope, and splicing its intro in. Unedited version included in a separate folder.

2. "Rest Aria": This track had some pops around 15 seconds in that last for a split second, these were also removed with iZotope. 

3. "N-ER-GEE": This track fades out with a repeating section, the original version has 1 more repeat than the TORSO one, so I copy-pasted it one more time and lined it up+deamplified that last line accordingly. This track has some clipping on the TORSO version, but there isnt anything I could do about that sadly.

ALL tracks have fadeouts that vary slightly from the original press, but like the clipping, there isn't anything I could figure out how to do for that. Though, it isn't very noticable on my end.

The 1988 TORSO CD is slightly at the wrong speed compared to the 1974 vinyl. This has been fixed using Audacity.

This version is an attempt to get the TORSO version sounding as close to the original press as possible, but without all of the noise the original press rip has. Not sure if the vinyl just, sounds like that? Or if the person who ripped it just has a noisy copy. Not like I'd know, fuck trying to find one of those nowadays.

Scatman John - HQ Promotional Image Scans

 Heres a collection of various promotional images ive stumbled across on eBay over the years. No interesting stories or anything outside of the first two. Full resolution images can be downloaded here:

These first two images were purchased on eBay. I saw someone in the UK (from what I remember) who was selling a copy of the Scandinavian Popstar promotional CD. I was a bit surprised that the CD ended up in the UK, so I contacted the seller asking them if they had any other Scatman related promotional items. They told me they had a family member who worked with John and would be contacting me through their account. Low and behold I get a message from them, and they were selling these 2 framed promotional images, neither of which I had. We decided to have the images shipped out of the frame as they could get damaged a lot easier in post, especially as it was being imported. I have seen these images online in OK quality, but never had the actual promo prints myself. Both people were extremely friendly, very thankful they were willing to sell these images. The images had phone numbers for management, which are blurred out for privacy reasons. Both images were used on the packaging for the album "Everybody Jam!"

These next two were purchased from an eBay seller who seems to have gotten a fair collection of promotional images for magazines, newspapers etc. The first image was used on the cover of "Scat Paradise", and the 2nd image was used on the packaging for the album "Everybody Jam!"

This last one was a poster originally bundled with a magazine (I did not get the magazine with the poster, not sure if it had anything of interest in it anyways aside from the poster). There is a fold line sadly, but still a nice image.
